We’re delighted to announce that Sky Arts are our Media Partner for the launch of Open Eye Gallery.
Cameras start rolling at the end of October and film the week leading up to our opening, edited in to a ten minute documentary to be shown on Sky Arts.
The documentary will cover exhibiting artists Mitch Epstein, Chris Steele-Perkins and S Mark Gubb arriving in town for the final hang of their exhibitions, the final touches being made to the galleries and shop and our launch events.
The team at Sky are also interviewing artists associated with Open Eye, such as Martin Parr and Tom Wood, whose work we have in our archive.
This week saw a visit from Dan Bougourd, producer and director for Sky Arts, who had a sneak peek behind the scenes to plan where and what he’s going to film.
Our curator Karen showed Dan around the new gallery, and introduced him to our archive of over 1600 images. The new gallery has a dedicated first floor space showing a rolling programme of exhibitions from the archive – the first time we’ve been able to do this.
The Sky Arts documentary will be available online and repeated on the Sky Arts channel throughout November.
